A few cute ideas that I loved from this website:
- have your kids wake up to a room filled with balloons on their birthday.
- take a photo of you and your spouse on each wedding anniversary holding a framed number indicating the number of years you've been mArried (e.g., on your 8th anniversary the framed number would be 8).

The wedding time-lapse photographs might have a tendency to remind one how one was aging, but I still think it's a lovely idea, as are the balloons. In my family it was always a card and a tiny vase of spring flowers at our places at the breakfast table (my siblings and I were all born in the spring). I miss being an excitable child with a birthday!
